dailywireless.org によると、Netgear が、先日 Qualcomm に買収された Flarion のテクノロジーをサポートしたワイヤレスルータを発表した。
Tom's Networking and Wireless Week report that NETGEAR and Flarion today announced a Netgear wireless router with Flarion mobile broadband backhaul built-in.
NETGEAR’s Wireless Mobile Broadband Router has a PC Card slot for the Flarion 1000 PC Card. Flarion supplies the backhaul. The 802.11g wireless access point can then be shared, locally. It supports four 10/100 Ethernet LAN ports and up to 253 networked computers.

Access Points with Cellular Backbones have been around for a year or more, often using Verizon's EV-DO backbone. But Verizon doesn't like to share its cellular network and using one of these boxes may violate the policy of Verizon or Sprint. In addition, cellular network backhaul is slow. Sprint and Verizon EV-DO networks provide about (64 kbps (up) and 300-500 kbps (down) - not fast enough for video. It's expensive, too, at $80/month.
